Denise Carreiro


Graduated in nutrition at the Faculty of Public Health of the University of São Paulo – USP in 1982. Postgraduate in Functional Clinical Nutrition. Professor of the Postgraduate Course in Functional Clinical Nutrition of the Center Valéria Paschoal/UNICSUL. Professor of the Postgraduate Medical Course of the Master’s Degree in Sciences of Human Physiology, from the Healthy Longevity Group/Tales University of Mileto. Nutritional care in own practice since 1991. Author of several books on Clinical Nutrition.

Edilene Simões


PhD in Education from the University of Brasília, today she works as a teacher at the Graduate Program in Mathematics Education at UFMS (Brazil). Attached to the FAO as a consultant in Food Education Projects: Educating with the School Garden from 2006 to 2009; UNJP/BRA/075/SPA – Joint Food and Nutrition Security Program for Indigenous Women and Children in Brazil from 2010 to 2011; GCP/RLA/180/BRA. Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil in 2012 and 2014. In 2016 in GCP/RAF/48/BRA Strengthening School Feeding Programs in Africa, within the framework of South-South Trilateral Cooperation, between Brazil the FAO and São Tomé and Príncipe.

Emma Siliprandi


Agricultural Engineer (UFRGS), Master in Rural Sociology (UFPB) and PhD in Sustainable Development (UnB and University Valladolid, Spain). Specialist in Food Security Policies, Rural Development and Agroecology, with a gender focus. Invited Professor of the Official Master’s Degree in Agroecology of the International University of Andalucía (UNIA), Spain. Author of books and articles on issues related to food security and sovereignty and gender issues. She currently coordinates the Food and Nutrition Security Strategies Support Project in Latin America and the Caribbean, a partnership between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of Brazil (Ministry of Social Development – MDS and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency – ABC).

Inês Rugani


Professor at the Nutrition Institute at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her research focuses on design and evaluation of interventions, programs and policies on public health nutrition. She is the coordinator of the Special Interest Group (SIG) on Public Health Nutrition of the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (ABRASCO). Her priority themes at this SIG are conflicts of interest in public-private relationship and the interface between food and nutrition approaches at the National Health System and the Food and Nutrition Security agenda.

Jonathan Foley


Jonathan Foley, California Thursdays network coordinator, has been working within San Francisco Bay Area nonprofits for the past seven years, with a focus on school food systems. His passion lies in developing programing that allows students to understand and engage with the food systems around them, helping them to become informed and conscious stewards of our planet. This work stems from his well-rooted sense of wonderment with the outdoors, where you will likely find him if he is not in the office.

Patrícia Gentil


Patrícia Chaves Gentil holds a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Public Health, with extensive experience in the management and implementation of public policies in the area of ​​Food and Nutrition Security (FNS). Responsible for articulating the Interministerial Chamber of Food and Nutrition Security (CAISAN), a body whose purpose is to promote the integration of public administration bodies and entities related to the FNS agenda. She is the director of the National Secretariat for Food and Nutrition Security (SESAN/MDS) and coordinates the implementation of the National System of Food and Nutrition Security (SISAN) in the federative scope.

Rejane Ribeiro


Educator (Faculdade Paulista São José), Bachelor in Biological Sciences (Unigranrio), Specialist in School Management (Faculdade Internacional Signorelli), Master in Education (University of Jaén, Spain). Experience as a teacher, public servant of the Municipal Networks of Rio de Janeiro and Duque de Caxias, Articulator Teacher of the day care of the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro and as Reading Coach at the Duque de Caxias City Hall. She is currently Assistant Director at the Child Development Space Professor Norma Andrade Nogueira, at the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro.
