The Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport (IATA code: BSB, ICAO code: SBBR) is the international airport of Brasilia. With a terminal capable of handling more than 9 million passengers per year, it is one of the most modern airports in Brazil. It has a shopping mall with 136 stores and is 13km from the hotel sector. It is operated by Infraero, and its name is a tribute to former Brazilian President Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira, the founder of Brazil’s new capital. The airport has been used by 9.7 million passengers in 2006, being the third busiest airport in Brazil, behind the two main airports of São Paulo, Congonhas Airport and Guarulhos International Airport. The Interstate Bus Station in Brasilia receives buses from all regions of the country and is 12 km from the hotel sector.

Climate:

Brasilia has a dry tropical climate, with an average of 20 degrees Celsius. The rainy season begins in the month of October and lasts until April. The city is 1000 meters above the sea level, in the so called Central Plateau and has a very flat geography. During the day the average temperature is 22 degrees centigrade, while at night the annual average is 17 degrees. In general terms the climate is quite stable, with possibility of intense rain in the afternoon. Usually in the hotel rooms, offices and other spaces have air conditioners that guarantee a milder temperature.

Security in Brasília:

Vitória is considered a safe city, but we advise additional precaution at all time. We recommend that all participants take precautionary measures when leaving the hotel. Avoid walking alone at night and especially in areas that are poorly lit. If you decide to leave the hotel premises, please be sure to take a clearly numbered and marked taxi; preferably use the taxi services at the hotel. We advise you not to carry large amount of cash or other valuables with you, especially when you are outside of the hotel.
